For some folks, this is time of year to focus on family and Holidays. They can’t wait to get the Christmas decorations out and start Christmas baking.

They plan the Christmas outings with friends and family.

And they are often the ones putting together the Christmas potluck in the office or planning the Christmas gift exchange. They want everyone to share in their joy!

But, there can be a darker side to all that Christmas cheer in the office.

People who don’t celebrate Christmas may feel like excluded.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not opposed to office celebrations. They are a great way to get to know each other a bit better. To share in appreciation for the year coming to an end.

If you work in a small office, you probably already know each other well. You’ll know who celebrates Christmas, Kwanza, or Hanukkah, or don’t celebrate at all.

If you work on a larger office, if you’re part of a group of 20 or more people, you may not have that privilege.

And that’s where mistakes can happen.

I remember a particularly cringeworthy office event.
